This is an estimate, not a purchasing guarantee. Check the exact roll dimensions, pattern repeat and batch number on the wallpaper you intend to buy. Complex rooms, unusual pattern matches and damaged rolls can change the quantity required.
Why this calculator uses wallpaper drops.
Wallpaper is normally hung in vertical lengths, or drops. The calculator works out how many drops are needed across each wall from the roll width, then adjusts each drop for the wall height, trimming allowance and pattern repeat.
It then packs those drops into the available roll length. This is generally more realistic than simply dividing wall area by roll area because pattern matching can create substantial offcuts.
Pattern repeat
If the wallpaper has a straight pattern repeat, each drop may need to be cut longer so the next piece begins at the correct point in the pattern. Enter the repeat shown on the wallpaper specification. For offset or half-drop matches, allow additional material and check the manufacturer's guidance.
Doors and windows
For a conservative estimate, this calculator does not automatically deduct doors and windows. Offcuts around openings can often be used elsewhere, but whether they are useful depends on pattern matching and the shape of the room. Leaving openings in the estimate helps reduce the risk of coming up short.
